Can I half charge my battery and then use my Mobility Scooter or Powered Wheelchair?
The answer is yes, the deep cycle battery will perform. However, this is not the best practice and not advised by the technical experts at Valen.
A Mobility Scooter or Powered Wheelchair battery is designed to cycle but the life of the battery will depend on how frequent these cycles are and how much capacity is taken out of the battery on each of these cycles. The more frequently and deeper the battery is cycled, the less time your battery will last.
Likewise, if the battery is only half or partially charged, the discharge will be a lot deeper and harsher on the battery, therefore, shortening the batteries life.
Another factor to bear in mind is that if the battery is half or partially charged it will not be able to run the Mobility Scooter or Powered Wheelchair the same distance as a fully charged battery. This could place the operator at risk of being stuck without battery power.
Also, ensure you are using the most appropriate battery technology for your Mobility Scooter or Powered Wheelchair.
